Sukhbir Badal's Resignation: End of an Era for the Shiromani Akali Dal

Sukhbir Badal News: A Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader was shot at by someone during a service at the Golden Temple. The event was caught on video.

Information regarding Sukhbir Badal's attack  Sukhbir Singh Badal, the head of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), was shot by a man on Wednesday following a significant security breach at the Golden Temple. He was working as a *sewadar* (volunteer) at the time. When the bullet struck the wall, Sukhbir Badal, who was in a wheelchair at the time of the incident, barely avoided being hit.

Now, a video of the incident has been made public. The man, identified as Narayan Singh Chawra, was apprehended by some individuals outside the Golden Temple, according to a PTI report. The individual may be seen on camera approaching the location where Sukhbir Singh Badal was sitting. The SAD leader and other security guards are able to capture him when he draws a pistol and shoots Badal.

"The security arrangements were adequate," said ADCP Harpal Singh. The shooter attempted to cause trouble but was unable to do so. Following the attack, Daljit Singh Cheema, the leader of the SAD, said: "This is a huge plan to plunge Punjab back into instability... A man acting as a'sewadar' fired at Sukhbir Singh Badal at the shrine entrance. I'm grateful that God spared his life. I would like to know what Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has done for the state.

Political Reactions to Sukhbir Badal's Attack

"I think this is very wrong," said Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, in reference to the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann. It was not supposed to occur. I believe that Sukhbir Singh Badal's dismissal was the result of complete government negligence.

It depicts Punjab's current status of law and order. "The worst punishment must be meted out to the person who fired the rounds. Sukhbir Badal may be hated by Sikhs, but that doesn't give you the right to shoot him," Warring continued.

Sukhbir Badal Outside the Golden Temple Receiving Religious Penalties

Sikh religious authorities sentenced Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal to a "tanakhah" (religious punishment) on Monday for transgressions committed while the Akali Dal ruled Punjab from 2007 to 2017. As a punishment, Badal has been ordered to work as a "sevadar" (volunteer) at the Golden Temple, doing things like cleaning shoes and sanitizing utensils. Sukhbir Badal performed his prescribed tasks outside the Golden Temple for an hour on Tuesday to start his penance.

Wearing a blue'sevadar' costume, he continued to serve on Wednesday, sitting in a wheelchair with a spear in his hand. Around his neck, little boards recognized his "wrongdoings."
